Hi all,

I found a place to buy a bandit angel for about 500 shipped. Is this too risky?

I could also get a male crosshatch shipped for under 400, but believe my 4 ft tank would be too small.

Thoughts?

I'm not familiar with care requirements regarding the Bandit Angel, however, that Crosshatch will most definitely outgrow a 4 ft tank. They push to 10+ inches and are active swimmers. A lot of people even argue that a 6' tank would be too small.

I agree. My tank is 48x24, and while a blue throat is fine in it, I don’t believe a crosshatch would be.

That's a good price on the bandit. Risk depends on many factors

Are bandits tough to aclimate? I’ve kept many finicky angels without problems, but never risk so much $$

Mine is super hardy but someone else acclimated him. I think he told me it was a tough go at first because he was very small. Maybe someone who has done it will speak up.

Thanks. That’s exactly what I suspected. I may just show up in Hawaii with scuba gear instead

Bandit is a stunning fish but I'm less sure it is reef safe enough. I really like black/white fish .....

I would think they are so so. I think I’ll just get 500 domino Damsels instead

Well....they do look pretty super awesome sauce in the wild while scuba diving :) But in your tank those are on the aggressive side. @ca1ore has a zillion damsels in his tank although allens or azures. Ok, not a zillion but 30 something for sure :D

Both damsels are beautiful. Secret: I've never liked or stocked green chromis. Never will

One fun thing is that I am considering mixing a captive bred clarkii in with a cpl fancy type adult occ. that I have.
