Bought 3 cardinals and a coral beauty about a week ago and added them to my Quarentine tank. Everyone seemed healthy but I dosed metro for the first two days and then dosed prazipro. One cardinal died on the 3rd day and now this one is on deaths door at day 6. No outward signs of sickness. Any ideas? I believe they were wild caught.

Moving over to fish forum for a better response.

Has ammonia been checked?

Any symptoms prior, such as acting reclusive or flashing? Been eating?

More info you can give about the behavior of the fish that died and the one currently having trouble the more help everyone can be? Also how are other fish acting?

No flashing. Ammonia 0. Was eating not a lot but he’s pretty small. Besides the first one that died the others are good eating and swimming normally.

I change five gallons every 2 or 3 days and have an ammonia badge. I also have a marine pure block in the tank that I will remove when I eventually have to run copper. Tank has been up for 8 months and haven’t dosed any copper to date.

Bangai seem to struggle in newly set-up quarantine tanks. I’ve toasted several in newly set up tanks but after a batch of fish goes through quarantine and they’re added as a second batch they seem to do better. Does that apply to you?

I hypothesize that they need more stability under stress.

Tank has been up for a while. Just had a yellow tang come out of quarantine after a month.

Third one just died. No idea why. Coral beauty in the same QT seems normal.
