Hello!
I was wondering if I could get a group of Bangaii Cardinals (6) for my 55 gallon. Only other fish is a Lawnmower blenny. Pretty open for the most part, but I plan on it getting SPS filled. I’m interested in the breeding behaviors. Thanks.

You can however don’t expect complete peace
If you can get them from the same clutch, you may have a good harem

Cardinals in general tend to pair off even if they start as a group. Sometimes the aggression is manageable once they start pairing off, other times they fight. Common wisdom has it that Bangaiis are likely to do the latter once pairs are formed.

I was curious about a clutch raised together as I've had a batch in my frag tank for about a year now and I've been waiting for them to pair and fight. However that hasn't happened yet and for the second time I've noticed a male carrying. You can see him in front of the MP40

Wondering if I can dump them in my display but I wouldn't be able to get them out if they start picking each other off.

Start as an adult group or raised from birth?

They should do well

Squabbling wouldn't be bad as long as they're not killing each other. I'll have to remember to update this after I try it. I'm assuming their behavior will change in a bigger display or when they are older.
Thanks

Finding a group of Bangaiis RN? Might as well stock it with a Bigfoot

My LFS had ~25 TINY babies when I went in today. Not ready to stock, just getting more rock. Even so, I’d be scared about them going through the grooves of my overflow. Looks like they had been born very recently

It's been a few months in the display. No fighting I've noticed, no breeding either. They mostly stay together as the long nose hawkfish goes after them. Sometimes the other fish dart through the school and they scatter. I'd probably do that too if I could. Overall they've been together about a year and a half. I gave a group of 12 for a friend to raise and he's going to try the same thing.
