Bangaii issue

I have noticed over the last month or so something on my bangaii cardinal. At first I thought it might have been some damage from a fight or something, but it appears to be getting worse. Nothing new (coral, fish, cleanup crew) in the tank in quite sometime-so it doesn’t seem like it was brought into the tank. Fish still eats vigorously-havent noticed any behavioral changes. Any thoughts?

A picture without the blues on would really help a lot. In the meanwhile, does the area protrude a bit and look cottony or cauliflower like in texture?

Hard to say what it looks like. Does protrude some. The upper part could be the fishes tissue, but it does look like something (tissue, parasites?) is coming out from the gill

It kind of does. I looked at that earlier and had considered the epson salt treatment they mentioned, but thought I’d ask here first
