Hey, I got a Banggai cardinalfish around the first of April. Hes still not eating. Hes interested in the food, comes up with the other fish to eat, grabs food in his mouth, and spits it back out. Hes in a QT tank now along with a Clown, Royal Gramma, and a Firefish all purchased at the same time as him, and they are all eating fine. Ive been feeding Larrys Reef Frenzy, and today I tried some ocean nutrition formula one flakes. He spits both out, other fish eat it up. Im getting worried, he looks fine, and hes comes up and is active at feeding time. Is this a normal thing for these type of fish, and how long can he go with not eating? Its been almost a month. Not sure what to do?

Get some PE Mysis. If that will not work, then nothing will.

For next time, be sure that get Captive Bred Cardinals. Not only do they eat better, no need to buy wild ones anymore even though people still collect them. They are getting sparse in the wild in some areas.

Mine does the same with pellets. But he is a fat pig with pe mysis. No idea if he is captive bred but he’s pals with the other fish and is very active. First fish I added after my tank cycled 9 months ago.
