I want one of each! I also heard cardinal's will school..Is that true? Can I get 3?
Do I need 3 the same to school?
Like them both and may get one of each.. Any suggestion's? And the are very peaceful right?

And you want to put them in the same tank with the Trigger? Do you have a large type tang as well?

Cardinals will fight unless it's a pair. They are a more cryptic fish type, they do better and live longer in tanks not inhabited by busy fish types.

How big is the tank?

My experience with bangai's is that they are fine together (in a group) as juveniles. Once they start to mature, the will form a pair (male + female) and then kill off the other (had this happen in a 29 gallon and in a 70 gallon tank). Ive never had a problem keeping a variety of cardinal fish together (bangai, pajama, yellow stripe, ochre stripe, whatever the name of the black ones are) as singles or even with mated pairs in the mix (bangais were a pair, the rest singles). The male bangai can get slightly aggressive when holding an egg clutch, but otherwise are typically the most docile fish in a tank.

Well, maybe one PJ then!
But now Im thinking I better find a new home for my baby trigger:(

I have one of each in my 105 gallon reef without any issues. They were actually my first two fish that I bought over a year ago in my 60 gallon. They do not bother each other at all. The issue may be more from the trigger lol.....depending on the type of course.

Good to know! I would be very happy with one of each! The trigger will unfortunately have to go.. I'm afraid he's going to kill my other shrimp as well as fish when he grows! In my more recent research, I watched a video with a 14" Picasso trigger! Store said 8 to 10"
So now I'm watching videos for DIY fish traps!

I keep a banggai, PJ and a orbic in my tank with no real issues. The PJ is the leader of the pack though

When my LFS closed its doors, they had a set of blue-eyed cardinal triplets in a well established display tank. They all schooled together so I didn't want to break up the group so I purchased all 3. Unfortunately due to the stress during the tank tear down, two paired up and killed the 3rd before the LFS owners could pull him out. Then they lost a second one during the move. I still was able to bring home one of them and he's doing just fine with my Banggai in a 65 gallon. I like having the two different types.

I love trigger fish too! They are a gorgeous fish in my opinion however as they get larger they will gobble on any fish that’s smaller. They are extremely territorial and get more aggressive as they mature.
