Bare bottom and Sand

With all the talk of how hard it is to start a bare bottom tank the first year. I was wondering if anyone has tried running a remote sand bed on a bare bottom tank. If the water is filtered before going in the remote sand bed it should stay clean. Would this help stabilize the tank?

bare bottom vs sand runs the same and doesnt affect stability, that was just reef opinion you have read. you can run it both ways equally. bare bottom simply prevents waste buildup and is less cleaning work.
