Bare bottom display with sandbed in fuge

I'm curious on everyones opinion. I am in the early stages of my new tank about 3 months. I decided to go bare bottom on this build. I'm curious for those of you that run bare bottoms do you have sand in your fuge? Is there benefit in it?

I have a bare bottom 120 with no fuge.
It works for me and is one less thing to deal with.

I use sand because I like the look of it. the downside to sand is having to work to clean it. If it is in a fugr it will be almost impossible to clean due to the chaeto. I would think it would turn into a large toilet.

Having sand can be a big benefit in biologically reducing wastes. It can become an issue overtime as it becomes full of detritus.

DSB shouldn't be disturbed if only for the very top layer.

I would assume the opposite. I can easily remove cheato and it's easier to access to clean than my display would be.

Wouldn't having it in the fuge be a simpler place to have one? My fuge is the least likely place to be disturbed. If things went bad I could stop my return pump and remove everything if I had to.

I'm lazy and can barely remove the chaeto growth. That said I have a little bit of sand in my fuge as well for the snails that I removed from the DT to help with food and stuff that makes it into the fuge. It is less than an inch deep and barely covers half of the bottom.

Just looked at your build thread. If you want a deep sand bed for nitrate contol look into a remote DSB as ran through a bucket.
No service required and easy to remove if you dont want or need it.

I use 3 liters of eheim substrate pro in a mesh bag. My No3 runs 1-2.
Po4 .02.
I feed 11 fish 2 cubes 3-4 times a day.

That or the remote bucket method would work. Either way it's a cryptic zone and would work.
