I'm considering going bare bottom on my 20 long nano. I can't decide if I should put a white acrylic sheet under the tank or under the rock inside the tank. I've thought about cutting board, but it floats. Not sure I want to deal with that.

Thoughts or suggestions?

I would place an acrylic sheet for added security. Never had a bare bottom tank but if I did that's what I'd do.

Would you need to seal it around the edges to keep detritus out from under it? I know if detritus is trapped in an aerobic zone it can release toxic sulfur gas.

I would think the starboard would be sitting flush to the bottom.

A friend of mine went the cutting board route. He made sure to cut it a little under the tank dimensions to leave a gap/troth between glass and board so it would sit flush on bottom. It resting on silicone corners will leave gap under it. This gap between glass and board would catch the crap and he would siphon out every water change. Hope this helps.
