Hello reefers,
So the jist of it is im thinking of removing my sendbed.
tank is rather small nuvo 30l ext with a trigger systems ruby sump also 30gall all in all with displacment id say i have around 35 gallons “roughly”
I have Run barebottoms in my previouse 60 cube with great success. My fear is my setup is new 2 months but already growing coraline algae and rocks have been cycled for 6 months before the setup.
i do not run filter socks because im lazy and would love to go back to bare bottom for flow ease of water change/ detritus removal and i love the look.
DO YOU RUN A BB? WHAT BENEFITS DO YOU SEE? Sanbed? Benefits? Do you think id run into somebiological problems by doing so?

I run bare bottom, mostly because I don't have to worry about sand blowing around with flow and it's super easy to clean detritus.

Sand beds are a major source for bacteria to grow in . I prefer large size aragonite. It’s white it grows bacteria, and doesn’t blow around with high flow .

I had major bad issues with black sand, took it out, and currently have BB. Its really easy to maintain. I keep thinking I need sand, but might just grow corals on the bottom glass instead.
In a thriving , stable system the sand will have lots of small / microscopic things which are great for the tank. I started dry so I don't have those.

Bare bottom on my 120. 5 months in and stable. Lots of coralline. They both work. It is just a matter of what you like imo. Just took this pic.
