I’m considering trying a few of these nifty little fish in my nano tank.

1) Has anybody put these guys (or similar tube living blennies) through QT before? In the past I’ve observed the fish for half hour or more a day to look for diseases before treating but that fish didn’t live in a tube.

2) What is the life-cycle time of Uronema? I’ve read Humblefish’s thread and the pictorial disease guide thread and the QT thread and couldn’t find this info. If, say, the fish is alive in a week even without a ruby reef rally bath or similar, can I assume it doesn’t have Uronema or it would be dead?

Uronema is a free swimming and living parasite that does not require a fish host to survive. Uronema seems to frequently afflict anthias, some wrasses, and especially Chromis, but other fish sometime behave like they are immune to it, much like some fish can be carriers of some parasites. But it can infect all fish.

I know Uronema is free swimming and that once you have it in your DT, it’s there. That’s why I really want to avoid it.

if I have a fish in quarantine and am not medicating it, when will enough time have passed so that I can assume if the fish/QT had Uronema in it, the fish would have shown symptoms/died.

Maybe instead of asking about the life cycle I should have asked how quickly it kills. If a new fish remains symptom free for 30 days in a clean QT, is it same to assume that it will not transport Uronema to my DT?
