barnicles ?

okay so has anybody ever heard of banicles in a tank. It seems as if thats what i have and they are spreading like crazy. This isnt some b.s thread i seriously need some info and advice caus enoboy i ask seems to know anything.

They are not barnacles. What you have is a type of tube worm. They are harmless. I have thousands on my tank. Most newer tanks seem to notice them more. I don't know the proper name for them though if thats what you are looking for.

Yeah, don't worry. My sump walls are COVERED in them.

Alright good to know guys..i wondered wether they were or not because I know barnicles in the ocean will slice u and when I work with the tank im not bothered at all. Well its good to know they are not harmless.

Personally, I'm a little bothered working in my tank. Those guys have poked me causing a pretty bad infection.

I have them all over the place as well. They also grow on my glass I just scrape them off. Have never had a problem with them.

Barnacles are filter feeders and may have a hard time living in a low nutrient tank over a period of time.
