Hey all, just wondering if anyone has any experience with Barrier Reef clownfish (Amphiprion akindynos) compared to ocellaris clownfish, just wanted to know if they'd be a good beginner fish. Heard they're pretty much identical to Ocellaris but require a bit more space and are shyer.
Looking at them as a stocking option for a 40 breeder.

I've never kept them but as they are part of the clarkii complex I'd assume they have the potential to be far more aggressive than ocellaris clowns so your choice of tankmates might be affected.
Clowns can be very hardy and good beginners fish but it can depend on where they are sourced from. Wild clowns tend to be more delicate but if these are tank bred then they will probably make an idea beginners fish.
