Basement sump return pump

Hi everyone I am new to this site and pretty new to saltwater. I got a 240 gallon that I’ll have on the first floor and plan to set up my sump in the basement. The tank came with 2 iwaki md 30rxt pumps. I was wondering if these were powerful enough to be return pumps for a basement sump? The vertical height to pump would probably 12-15 feet. Their are 2 intakes and outputs on the tank. Thank you in advance!

Max head for your pump looks like 13.5’ So it might get the water high enough but virtually no flow.

Looks like that pump maxes out at 13.5.....so you will be pushing it.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies. What would be a go to pump you all would recommend for this application? Also I don’t suppose there is a way to use the two iwakis in tandem is there?

It seems like the Abyzz pumps are the new hot thing for these applications after a quick search....but pricey.
Tandem won't do you any good.

I’m running a Pan World 200PS which is an awesome pump. It could probably handle your sump and flow requirements. I think that AC pumps can achieve higher head than DC. But DC pumps offer more direct control etc

Also, keep in mind that head loss is also affected by size of pipe, number of turns, etc. Not as much as vertical rise, but something to keep in mind.

I have almost the exact same setup as you. I’m running two Red Dragon 3’s. There’s a “high pressure” version of them for applications where you need the extra head pressure. Also they are DC pumps so they are quiet and controllable but still powerful

I have the same setup an have been happy with my eFlux pump from Current USA. Quite a bit cheaper that some of the other DC pumps (that can handle the head height). I have the 6011.
