My current tank, a 55 gallon I have on the main floor, oriented perpendicular to the floor joists to distribute the weight which I estimate at ~600lbs all in. Eventually I plan on upgrading to a 125 or more, and I'm somewhat concerned about having all that weight in the same spot for years, despite having some beefy joists. I do have a concrete floor basement but my main concern with having a tank down there would be humidity and the consequential mold and/or rot.

I'm just wondering if anyone here keeps their tanks, especially larger ones in a basement, and what, if any problems might occur?

Thanks.

I've kept multiple tanks in a room and never had humidity issues; However if it is a smaller, poorly ventilated room it will probably get quite humid
