Bashsea Bio Fuge

I have this exact sump on my 55g. Sadly I cant give exactly the same praise as everyone else. I will say it works perfectly fine, there is nothing wrong with it, just some things could be better.

If you get it on sale then its totally worth it, at full price there are other brands that simply have more features or nicer looks.

The sock holder/single drain is disapointing. Id much rather have 2 drain lines and 2 socks or 1 large sock. My emergency drain just hangs on the side of the sump.

Tiny return pump section. While I really like the rigid noodle chart blocker for the pump, there simply isnt enough space for a decently sized DC pump.

There are no accessories at all really. No dosing tube, probe, or heater holder.

I do want to say you'll most likely enjoy this sump, I know I did. It just could be better.

thanks for your imput Mombo and everyone else. Can't wait to get the sump and play!

For eenoo I believe you have the sump just below the ones we are talking about. All of the 36in models are substantially nicer then the under 36in models.

They all have 4 probe holders 4 dosing tube holders and I was able to fit a jebao dc pump in my return section with tons of room left over.

Also the 36in models have dual socks and dual drains like you wanted.

Not sure what the heater holder would look like... sounds cool... but I have 2 x 200w heaters in my skimmer section and they just chill on the sides.

I agree with you that the ones below the 36in models definitely seem to be lacking.

Sump arrived safe and whole! Haven't peeled the paper off the sides yet. Want to keep it pristine as long as possible <g>. Very pleased. Assuming those noodle blocks are for bio filtration? No idea if they will need to be cleaned or how often. Or if I can replace 2 with media bags or the marine blocks some folk use--the thin tall ones. There are 4 of the noodle like sheets. Can do a close up if anyone wishes. Isn't it purty

Want to chime in here as a repeat customer of the Bashsea brand over a five-ish year time period.

The systems I have set up using Bashsea equipment have all been incredibly successful. Bashsea's manufacturing is (hands-down) the best you can get for the money. 3/8" acrylic work is incredibly sturdy and a night/day difference from the sumps/equipment available to the average hobby....I wish every reefer could put their hands on an Eshopps (or similar) & Bashsea sump in the same room. The first thing you notice is that it's twice as heavy... designed to last.

I recommend their equipment to every reefer. Don't screw around with a crap setup & sub-standard filtration components if you plan on REALLY growing coral. Buy the right stuff once that will last you for years and years to come.

Pic below is my frag system set up this year with the Bashsea 48" sump, skimmer, bioreactor. Incredible SPS grow machine!

So nice and reassuring to know my research paid off, as well as all the great advice I received from folks on this forum. I am very pleased. Now comes the hard part--figuring out how to plumb it....

The adventure begins! My advice = take it slow. You'll make various mockups of your system prior to ordering parts - don't be a dumbie and not spend the time doing this. Once you're set on a design, itemize exactly what you need and order the parts. If your design stage was thought out enough, the build stage will be easy. If not, wash & repeat :D

I removed the bio-filters and replaced it with two packages of MarinePure ceramic balls instead. I built a little stand out of egg crate to keep them off of the bottom of the chamber, so I can clean that out if needed. I'll snap a picture when I get home. Works great.

I’m thinking about the same sump. Is your’s running yet and how do you like it? Also does anyone know the water height?

Mines up and running great. Got some chaeto floating around in it now as well. Ill have to check the water height. Which chamber are you wondering?

I had a difficult time iwth the 14" tray! It's 48 long which is okay. sweated the width!

I am glad I found this thread. Thinking about by the 48 x 18 x 18 one. Can any one post pics of the baffles please? I am not sure how the water level control part works. Thanks.
