Bashsea Twisted Skimmer help

We have taken our skimmer apart about 27 times this weekend and it just won't work right. To be fair, it didn't work right before the 27 times either. We ran it through a citric acid clean and had it running with just the citric acid water for a while hoping there might be a clog somewhere. It's still not running right. There shouldn't be any water coming in this tube I recorded, right? An air inlet tube?

Another video but not a great one to show what I think is an issue. Where the red arrow is, air bubbles come up under the o-ring. Most of the time there is a lot more air coming up. Should this be happening?
