Hope this isn’t too dumb of a question, but which side of the frag disk would be more ideal for the coral to sit on (chalices and acans), the smooth side or the rough side?

Also, should I soak them before use?

Thanks!

Sorry, one more: what does “curing” mean? I bought Ocean Wonders aragonite frag disks.

I always preferred the rough side so they have some type of rough surface to attach to. I have never heard of curing frag disk. I always just dip them in RO/DI water to clean the surface before using.

Thanks! It’s interesting, I’m reading about it and people say to cure aragonite but not ceramic. A lot of people are doing so by putting them in the back of the toilet and letting the water change with each flush haha

The interesting thing is that most of the posts about curing aragonite are form ‘08-‘15. Maybe people figured out it’s unnecessary?

Truth be told, I use 3 in frag disk I bought off of Ebay. I cleaned then to get rid of the chalky dust from the pressed sand. You can drop them in a tank or sump I guess. I just never have cured them, and never had any issues. :)

I use the rough side as well. Why... I don't know haha

I usually rinse / let the frag disks soak in RODI for a day, then I drop them in my sump for later use. They seem to stay cleaner when I do that. I'm not sure if anything leaching from the disks would harm coral or not, its just what I do.
