Hi all, so I'm only just deciding to learn some proper science rather than just basic reef keeping.

When wanting to raise a level in the tank using a chemical, how do I work out how much to use. Let me know if my thinking is right.

So lets use KNO3 for example.

Molecular weight = 101.1032 g/mol;

Molecular weight calculation:
39.0983 + 14.0067 + 15.9994*3

So the potassium side for example is 38.67% by weight.

So to raise potassium by 1 ppm I would have to add 2.586mg/L

Is that right on how I base it by weight of the molecule in which I wish to raise?

Thanks in advance.
