If there is no power to router and modem I will get no notification correct?

If you are using Apex Fusion and you have power monitor enabled it will send you an email if the Apex loses connection to fusion, which will happen in an outage. You are correct however that the other alarms from your Apex won’t be able to be sent during the outage.

Had anyone heard of a self starting generator? Lol

To elaborate, you will only receive HEARTBEAT. The apex checks in with fusion hourly, and it it fails to check in, you will be notified.

For instant notification of outage (as well as monitoring), you do need a backup on the apex and modem.

Oh, cool! Was seriously half joking have to check that out. Really don't want to hook up ups to 12 deep cycles

It’s definitely not cheap, but boy is it nice. Here in Florida you need to take power outages seriously. So we have 21KW standby generator with 1000g propane, to run the home for over 10 days.

You can plug your home wifi router/modem into a cheap computer battery back up. It will keep your home network up and running for a few hours. The cable going into and out of your home should still be active.

I use GHL and the aquarium controller is also plugged into a computer battery back up.

With the above set up I can monitor my aquarium for a few hours when power goes out.

I also have my Ecotech return pump and 2 of the 4 power heads plugged into Ecotech batteries. These keep the system running for a few hours. Giving me time to get home and possibly get my RV generator running.

Eventually, I’ll have a whole home generator, till I do the above works for me. But I have ways now to deal with short term outages.

I appreciate it but it's not the short term outages that worry me. I live in the southeast and we get a long one almost every year because of some storm. I will still use a UPS as you suggested but will have everything hooked up to a standby generator which would come on after uninterruptible power supply runs out. This way if I'm gone to another state or something all I have to do is get someOne to top off generator fuel reserve. And if that runs out then secondary Battery reserves like those you are using for power heads. Give me time to collect or build batteries charging station and solar panel would eventually like to use.

Ok. You were not joking when you said not cheap hard to find anything less than two grand. Guess I will be running a normal generator and ups after all. Just have to have a couple people ready to take a call when I'm out of town

Quick pinch fix is one of those mifi boxes from Verizon or some where equivalent. Always works unless cell towers go out. Think you can get unlimited 3g for around 15-20 a month.

I run a 4g one at home for my cameras. Hard to cut a cable on something that doesn’t have one.

I considered this as I have one already and never use it but I have seen it do to many funny things turn on and off for seemingly no reason and sometimes connection in The middle of nowhere is great the other times it won't pick up right next to tower. Makes me too nervous to trust it.

I had one that went out on me. They sent me a new one for free. Was a older model but it worked just fine. Besides that, it’s been a solid little unit.

I honestly think it might be a chord issue on the turning on and off part but I decided I will use it the same way but for plants where mistakes and the time it takes to correct them are much more forgiving. Auquaponics I will run off a reef keeper with WiFi power strip.
