I have two Red Sea 25 gyres on a 100gal 4ft mixed reef. I want to add an MP40 to the tank partly because of there amazing backup battery capability.

the question is. Should I have the MP40 positioned where it would be breaking the waters surface during a power outage since it’ll be the only thing on (till I can get home and crank up the generator) or does that not matter? It could be as little as 2hrs or 2days before I get to put the generator online. If we’re out of town over the weekend and lose power at home. That kinda scenario.

The gyres do a phenomenal job right at the surface so I’d like to keep them there and the MP40 2/3 of the way down on the side panel. This will be a good flow pattern and it’ll be nicer for cord management.

TIA. Happy reefing!

I haven't tested a VorTech but I doubt it does much for oxygenation since it can't be angled upwards. Even the powerheads that can don't perform that well, using 7X more power to match a humble air stone.
