I have put these two 12v batteries together in parallel. Converter is connected on once side and the charger connected to the other battery. I would like to know you guys thoughts on this layout please.

Is the way the charger is connected to one batt and not the other a big deal? Should I connect Charger on the positive of one batt and negative of the other?

Also, will having the converter connected to just one batt be an issue?

Good news, it does work as connected. I just want to check my layout.

Thanks!

First statement is going to be please get rid of the clips and open connections for safety sake. No offense intended, I just feel it my duty as an electronics tech / marine electrician to pass that along.

Now that I've done my duty there, you want to do as you mentioned. Connect to the positive of one battery and the negative of the other. This utilizes the entire bank, evening out load and charge. While both of these may be minimal in this instance it is the proper way to do things and will be better on the batteries in the long run.

Awesome. Thank you for that help and clarity. I'll get rid of the clips and do bolt down and get some covers as well. Thank you so much for the help.

im guessing the relays would automatically turn the battery backup on in case of a power outage. I would get rid of the clamps if you could, that would get rid of a potential failure point. In the future you might want to consider getting sealed battery's that are deep cycle, I mean once these battery's are old and dead. The reasoning behind this is due to the Extremely small chance that the battery's could become a fire hazard. I know a guy who came home to fire trucks because he left his failed battery charging and it actually exploded burning his garage down. I have a homemade battery back with a single battery and it lasts 6-8 hours
