left my tank alone for the first time this weekend..come home to find out the power had gone out for at least couple minutes. fortunately I didnt have any losses and nothing was too out of whack. the one thing I did notice was my dosing pump mustve malfunctioned to some extent because I had little "icebergs" of my BRS magnesium solution floating in my return section. I did a small water change and tested and the mag was still at 1350.

Ive been looking at UPS battery backup systems (APC and Cyber Power) typically used for computers/servers. anyone use these to keep their equipment from going haywire during little outages like this?

lol..I think I just need to be able to keep my return, heaters, and dosing pump running during these little outages, and with summer around the corner, the central Florida thunderstorms arent far behind.

I do have a pretty large generator that can run a good bit of the power in the house for those extreme cases.

I put my apex, wireless adapter, router and modem on an APC UPS and have an Ecotech battery backup w/one of my powerheads connected to it.

How about just an automatic-bubbler? $10 or $20 each, battery powered, plugs in to the wall, and turns on when the AC goes out. Will keep everything alive for 6 hours.

That's what I have. I figured I could use our fireplace and driveway melt in a water bottle to keep the tank warm. If the power is out more than 5 days the corals will suffer without the light, but that has never happened where I live in the 30 years we've been here.
