APC has a lot of nice ones. Comes down to how much your budget will allow.

One that will run two pumps for eight hours. I was thinking about going with the computer back ups.

you can get the Tunze Safety Connector that will switch to an auxiliary power in the event of a power loss.

use a battery like either of these...

you should get 7 hours on the 6105 with this

no need to run both pumps, you just want one running until the power comes back on to keep the water oxygenated...

Def agree with going with a battery in this situation. Much more cost effective. Computer battery backups are meant for a temporary safety precaution for computers and servers...they are meant to carry high loads for little time...while you can do low loads at high time, it is not cost effective. You are paying for protection guarantees on your computer.

That makes sense. You may be able to get 2 safety connectors and run your wires to the same battery if the tanks are near each other. I'd just get a larger battery if you plan to run both pumps off one battery...

are BOTH pumps neccessary?

I plan on only having a single mp40w on battery so I can get longer time out of the battery.
