Wondering what everyone is using for a battery backup? I'm just looking for something small to run a powerhead or two in case of a power outtage. Any suggestions or advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

I use a small 900Watt generator from Harbor Freight. Battery Backups will not give you very long run time and many pumps won't run well on them anyway as the cheaper ones are not a true sine wave powersource. If you are concerned for power outages you could use an MP10 with their backup or a DIY backup. Either that or have a generator handy.

This APC Smart 1000 UPS will give 8 hours of power to three Koralias.

The reason I'm looking into batter backups is for power outtages when I'm not home and at work. I just got a generator, but that does me no good if I'm not home to start it up.

I love my APC UPS. I have only had to change the battery once in the 4 years I have owned mine. The previous owner owned the UPS for roughly 2 years before they gave it to me.

Here is the slightly updated version of mine. A little overkill for what I use it for, but it cost me nothing.

I have like 10 smaller ups from my work they were getting rid of I through them a few bucks.. I was gonna try one but never got around to it.. I'll have to give one a shot there 500 watts I think..

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll be ordering an APC backup tomorrow. Gotta shop around a bit and see who has a good price. I'm going to go with a 500w-600w range.
