Battery Chargers for Vortech Battery back ups

so i got my hands on a nice sized UPS battery cabinet from an old fire alarm system, and also some 55 amp hour batteries. one of the benefits of being in the life safety industry I guess. So im gonna be mounting this thing in my fish room and using the batteries to back up my vortechs. Im clear on how to do everything except for finding the right battery charger to tie into these batteries.

Do all chargers work the same regardless of the size of a battery?? Or do I need to find a charger thats rated to charge a battery thats at least 55 amp hours? Id preferably like to find a charger that can charge multiple batteries at the same time.

Most chargers will have a charge cycle designed around the type of battery. I am guessing yours is an AGM battery so It should support an AGM battery etc. Lithium batteries should have a charger that supports lithium batteries etc.

The actual size 8ah vs 55ah vs 120ah doesn't matter. it is just a matter of how fast it recharges. A low amperage 1amp charger will take longer to recharge your battery than a 10.

Finally will the charger just bulk charge or will it also maintain the battery with a float or trickle charge.

Good news most chargers over $15 can charge multiple battery types and maintaining them.

If in doubt because the charger has say a 2A and a 10A capability, always go with the lower charge rate to err on the side of caution.
