So my wife gave me a 100 watt car 12 volt inverter for Christmas. So of course I thought how could I utilize this for my reef!

I have a JNC 300XL 900 peak car battery jump starter, and a Hydor Evolution 1050 GPH circulation pump (purchased in 2013....5 watts) that I am going to pair the inverter with. My goal is to find out how long the fully charged battery will power the pump in case of a power outage. I have a generator, but during outages I tend to shut the generator off around 10 pm, so I would mostly be looking for circulation to hold me over till morning I'll I turn the generator back on. I also use battery powered air pumps that are great that they come on automaticity, just think this circulation pump will provide more overall circulation and keep everything happier. Some pics ....

So the end result of this experiment was that this set up ran 14 1/2 hours . Keep in In mind that this battery is not a deep cycle, but is very portable and when used with a inverter, can provide quick emergency power. Just another tool to keep our tanks going incase of an outage.
