I just noticed a encrusting monti that I thought was long gone has taken off growing again and Xenia are spreading on the same rock .
Who wins the fight for real estate ?

In terms of corals aggressiveness . I have had montis encroach on others

I’ve had euphillia sting and kill

a urchin knocking a chalice over killing a whole colony of favia .

so the question is will Xenia or monti kill the other ?

Xenia will shade the monti.
You can cull the xenia if desired, grab at base with hemostats.

The xenia will likely win eventually if for no other reason than starving the monti for light. I'd start trimming.
