Battling algea

My 29 gallon tank was doing awsome whe. I first started in the hobby about 4 to 5 months ago. I never had bad algea problem fought with cyno thats gone get this greenish brown algea in my filter pads and on ny glass. Is this normal? I have both a protein skimmer. im skimming on the wetter side.
a hob tetra whisper ex 75 with chemipure elite in it and filter pad white on one side pink on the finer sode. My dad has me dosing my tank with 1 ml vinegar and 1 ml vodka. Ive read it could be feeding the algea?? Should I stop dosing? Also my dad feeds my tank and love to feed heavy. He says that the fish will eat it. He has a 300 and a 110... I dont think he understands my smaller tank I do have lots nner of fish but what can I do to help it I have mangrove comming in the mail tommaro to put in my filter system any help would be great.

what are your parameters usually?

such a small system to employ stability practices imo.

what kit are you using for nitrate?
what is your phosphate at?

i never heard of carbon fueling algae growth. i would also have employed chaeto rather than mangroves for the smaller system.

Yea ill get the name off the kit. I beleave it says ATI on it. it has a bottle for phosphate in the test kit Ill grab a picture later when im home.
