So I have a big uv on the way, will be here this week. I have been dosing hydrogen peroxide and mb7. No lights on for 2 days so far. Things are getting a little better but I still see a bloom, so the uv will help. I have not been dosing phosphates - it looks like I need to. What does everyone use to dose those? I have to test phos again but before I started it was at 0.04

I dose sodium nitrate and sodium phosphate. Bought both on Amazon.

This is the sodium phosphate I bought. it’s enough to make a lifetime supply for a bunch of reefers.

I have done ICP test after months of dosing and none of my elements are out of whack so I don’t think the 1% impurity is anything bad for the tank.
Sodium Phosphate, Dibasic, 99% min, 500 Grams
You will need a good scale to measure grams if you are going to make your own.

Perfect, thanks. I have the sodium nitrate already off amazon. I also have a lab grade scale (.000 accuracy) due to my alkatronic.

I assume I can use this site (same as the Nitrate) for dosing the sodium phos?

Yes, and you make an adjustment for it being sodium (not potassium). I don’t remember what the conversion is.

This is what Randy has said in past threads about the James planted tank calculator.
Use this calculator to get doses. Use the entry for potassium nitrate and phosphate and it will be close enough. The sodium is just a bit more potent since sodium weighs less than potassium. High precision is a waste. A factor of two rough guide is more than adequate for our purposes here.

Perfect, thanks. It looks like no real adjustment is needed for our needs.

I finally got around to testing today (darn work). No3 is at 10ppm and phos is at.... 0.00 with the Hanna ulr. What can I do to naturally bring them up while I wait for the sodium phosphate to arrive?
