Bayer Complete Discontinued

Imidacloprid is a systemic insecticide and commonly found in any Ag store or found in almost all hardware stores too. And most all of them carry the same exact A.I. (Active Ingredient). It is exactly less expensive in more Ag type stores, but this is somewhat a moot point because we use so little that a few pennies is not going to make a difference.

I personally do not use any of the Bayer products containing Imidaloprid and been using CoralRx for years with no issues and I maintain an SPS dominant tank. The point being, don't freak out if Bayer discontinues a certain product because companies like that do it commonly and/or change the name of the product.

So just read the actual label and look for the percentage A.I. (in this case Imidaloprid) and you'll be surprised how commonly it is on the store shelves.

I hope this helps......

So the version everyone is getting has a second ingredient, and I was still able to pick up a straight version of Imidacloprid at HD, just not the second ingredient. I'm betting you're right and they're not getting it out of all other mixes, but just this specific one. It's pretty much always going to be available on ebay from some state, so I wouldn't fret. Unless it's outlawed it's just going to be have to be ordered online.

The ro di is for rinsing the Bayer off the coral. Saltwater doesn't get it off as well. Just swirl it in fresh water for 2 or 3 seconds
I would urge people to NOT dip any SPS in fresh water after bayer. I dip > Place in salt water for rinse, blow off with baster or power head> Move to 2nd salt water rinse > Tank.

Response from Bayer:

"Thank you for visiting our website and your inquiry to Bayer Advanced!

Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer has not been discontinued. The product is still available at most major retailers and hardware stores. I suggest checking with online retailers, such as www.amazon.com. Unfortunately, Bayer does not sell direct or have a specific dealer locator."

You are correct as most people and instructions don't say rinse in Rodi water before putting it in saltwater but I have heard that people do this with no ill affects to the coral. It just gets the Bayer off better than saltwater does for some reason. But I guess I wouldn't either unless others Co firm it besides me. Either way in my opinion is fine but understood it's not the norm.

Homedepot in youngstown ohio has it so i bought some. Looks like they are trying to get rid of it quick, its on clearance with the yellow stickers.

They had the same sale in my Homedepot. I bought 4 bottles just in case.

I actually couldn't find it at my local Lowes or Home Depot last week. I just assumed it was seasonal and I ordered it online. Not too many people are spraying their lawns in Maryland in November.

Where a'boots in MD. I'm in Germantown.

I got 5 bottles.
Not sure why as I won't buy corals any more but It's good to have, I guess.

Come on guys. Don't buy the stuff. I am still trying to set up my one ounce containers for $99 on E-Bay!

I went to my home depot today and was going to buy a few bottles, but then I realized that I've used the one bottle I have for the past 5 years and still have a ton left. I did buy a bottle, just because it was on clearance and you never know.

I wonder if it's been put on sale simply because it is the end of summer when such a product is typically used/in demand? Our local HD seems to have it in stock and no word on it being discontinued.

I got the last two off the shelf at my local lowes...plus got some off of amazon. I'm set and will be able to peddle @$99/oz lol...
