I've had a frag of bazooka joe for a couple months now and it sort of browned out on me a week or two after I got it. It just stayed that way for a few months until recently when I started spot feeding it fauna marin twice a day. It colored up completely and even grew noticeably in just 2-3 weeks. But last week I got a little lazy and stopped feeding and what do you know it starts browning out again . Do I really need to feed it that much to keep it colored up?? All my params are on point, mg is 1400 and I do weekly water changes. The only other food I've fed the past week is for my sixline and zeovit coral vitalizer everyday.

I agree,I havent ever spot fed mine. Seriously, and its growing really well, its a pretty good grower, its holding its color really good too!

I never spot feed my corals but mine has held it's color really well it just doesn't grow. It's probably the slowest growing chalice I have.

I have it under low light/flow with the rest of my chalices. Where do you guys put yours?

Mine is about 24" away from a 400Mh and I find that its color get even more red when it is closer to the light,IME. Its color will improve in higher light, just like how the red watermelons will do.

That's just the opposite of mine. LOL. I had it higher (about 12" from a 250 radium) and it lightened up too much for my liking. So now it sits on the sand about 36" from the Phoenix and the color is much better. But like everything in this hobby. Every thing usually works different for each of us.

Yeah,Im not sure, but mine seems to like the higher light. IME alot of the deeper pink/red watermelons do alot better under higher/moderate light.

hmm alright I'll experiment with lighting then, thanks guys!

Oh Yeah, Most of mine do like the light too. My Tyree Red and BPC Pink Cadillac LOVE a lot of light but for some reason the Bazooka Joe doesn't in my tank.

BPC Pink Caddy is a LIGHT LOVER!It does great under high light and grows soooo well!Tyree Red wont grow very well in low light for me,the color is still good, but the growth isnt.

wait when you guys say high light...how much is that? like should I be placing this right up next to my acros?

High light like around 20inchs away from the light depending on the light...lol...

Yeah my brother (bigfeesh) has a mini colony of pink caddy 12 eyes grew from 6 eyes in 2months !!! Loves high light!!! Not sure on the bjoe

Mine bazooka joe has been a slow grower as well, in comparison to some others. I keep it about 20 inches under T5's. I'd say just feed it :)

I wish I could comment on this. Lol. Been on my wish list for quite some time. Just can't seem to find a frag that is worth buying with the insane shipping costs. I'll keep all this info in mind though when I do eventually get it.

well I moved it a few inches up and looks like you guys were right, it colored right back up and is maintaining it's color without spot feeding. thanks for tips!
