My LFS’s don’t open up for a few hours but I’m wondering if there’s any place locally that anyone in the Houston area knows of that sells BBS eggs? Thanks in advance.

i dont live in the area.. but a petsmart/petco, or possibly a walmart's pet section
I’m hoping, none of the big brands stores list them on their sites. I’m looking for a backup in case any of my LFS’s don’t have them. Most don’t open until noon.

i get them on amazon or aquarium co-op
I’m kinda on a time crunch and lookin for instant gratification. Need to start pumping out BBS asap to hopefully feed my mandarin back to plumpness. But this will definitely be an option once I get my fire put out! Thanks!

ahh.. i feed mine frozen calanus as well. good luck.
I bought a bottle of tigger pods for the mean time but at $30 a bottle that’s something I can’t keep up with. He was eating frozen at the store but ignores it or seems to ignore it at my house. He hunts all day eating the pods I had but it can’t sustain him for long. Gonna go the Paul b feeder route and try my hand at BBS to see if I can turn him around.

ya, good luck.. true $30 for a bottle of pods is too much to keep up. i'd keep dropping frozen and get him switched.. I have mandarins in 3 tanks and they are all alive without bbs (though they do like them).

He was eating frozen at the store, the store fed him when I asked and he went for it but, for some reason he kinda prefers to pick little pods at my rock sand and glass instead. A bunch of people frightened me that he was in his death bed and now I’m super worried and frantically trying to get him straight. I’m hoping to get him to plumpness and that’s when I’ll start to try and reintroduced frozen to him.

on a side note, i bought a couple of those brine "blenders" on aquarium co-op and like them a lot. feed my dwarf seahorses...
I’ll look into this if my hand at a BBS feeder doesn’t work. Thanks!

bbs feeder?
Baby brine shrimp feeder, it’s a contraption that helps feed live baby brine to finicky eating fish. Basically a mesh top container with a pipe that comes out the tank for easy brine shrimp injection.

wait.. so you still hatch the eggs separately.. you just use this a delivery device to the tank?
Precisely. The feeder is so that the brine stays localized and the mandarin knows where to feed.

ahh.. ok.. ya.. i just broadcast feed.. may look into "localized"
Yea, I want him to have every chance. Everyone keeps saying that he’s doomed. But I’ve, for the past 5 days have gotten home to an active hunting mandarin. Sure, he’s thin but, the fact that he is eating boggles me when they say he’s on his last leg. I thought skinny and lethargic mean dying. I also read that his tail fin shows his health. His tail fin looks normal. Am I missing something?
