Never really put together a build thread, but thought it might be fun. I plan to keep a simple low cost, low maintenance aio reef.

It has been an interesting journey getting to the 40. I got a Nuvo 20 on Black Friday 2016. Moved to a new place in Feb and then found someone with a great deal on the 40 at the end of Feb. So needless to say the fish and corals have been through several moves recently. At this point I'm hoping things settle in and start to take off.

Hope everyone enjoys the progress. Please feel free to comment and leave any suggestions you might have.

Thanks for following! It makes it more fun when someone is interested! I'm trying to post some pics as we speak! I don't have a fancy camera just my cellphone. Enjoy!

You can see my 20 in the reflection of the new 40. This was for the week or so I kept both up while transferring over livestock.

Tried this scape for a while. Didn't like it. Busted up the giant rock to keep the zoas colony. It has at least 100 heads on it.

And, pretty much where we are now

Thanks, I'll post some more pics tomorrow of some of the livestock. I'm still not sold on the rocks yet

Hey thanks for taking a look. It's mainly HDR on my phone which is a Nexus 6p. Plus on Google photos there are a few adjustments and filters. It's tough to get accurate colors, but a few come out pretty awesome.

Here's one of my favorite and only chalice. This is straight off the phone, no edits from me.

Finally purchased a Tunze 9004 skimmer. This is my first skimmer on a tank in 10 years of doing this, so I'm very anxious to see the results.

I purchased it used on here. I've already pulled out some gross looking stuff overnight. Seems to be doing a good job so far.

Question for you guys: do you run your skimmer 24/7? Are there any modifications or changes I should make to the 9004 to get the best performance?

The tank looks fantastic.

Cool skimmer, I was not familiar with the 9004, looks like something I could add to my tank. When I run a skimmer I run it 24/7.

What ATO are you using?

Hey Tahoe
Thanks for the compliments. Do you have a Nuvo 40 also?

I've got a few changes to the rockwork I still want to make but it's almost where I want it.

As far as the ATO, I'm running the Tunze Osmolator Nano. Its been fine the 6 months or so I've had it. An ATO is easily the best purchase I've ever made for my reef tank.

I have the JBJ 45, it's very similar to the Nuvo 40. I have used the Tunze Nano Osmolator 3152 on two tanks and unfortunately the pump failed me due to the use of lime water, and the sensor failed on 3 occasions, fortunately I was home and the tank did not over flow, now I use Smart ATO.

Tunze makes a good product though and after using the IM Ghost skimmer (disappointed)I am looking at the Tunze 9004. :-)

Oh the JBJ is nice. I did have an occurrence of the ATO filling up excessively but it only happened once, and it was when I first installed it. I'm just running ro so hopefully I won't have any issues. I'm interested in the smart micro as well if I ever need another option
