dip all zoas in Bayer Insect Killer or do a freshwater dip in RODI....then get a yellow coris, melanrus or some sort of haliochores wrasse

Eh, I dunno. I think it's disregarded because I have those in my tank.
I would think that if they were a problem sombody would have pulled one out and done an Id with body shape and colors. There may be some that are flesh eaters.

We have had the same debate on asterinas. Finally several folks put up pictures of the ones that do eat coral and they were not ones of the common types.

Thus the question on correct species ID
I saw none in the pics here that should eat coral.

I would definitely agree that without removing one that was caught red handed and do a side by side comparison there may if fact be differences, absolutely. Very well could be the reason why I have only witnessed the larger one to eat zoanthids. Maybe it's a different strain of amphipod.
The reality is they where the sole reason I made my first wrasse purchase 12years ago (estimate) .

Do you have any abnormally large amphipods? Possibly darker in color than the rest? If so can you look to see if they like to hang around certain coral? Would be curious to know.

I have some i paid a $150 per polyp for but I'm over the zoa craze they're like weeds. Soon as I'm done with my daughter's 29 gallon biocube I'm scraping them all out my tank and into hers
