Be honest....what do you see first?

What do you see first?

Tanks or babies? Ha!

a lot of really cool cages lol

First reaction- "what the heck kind of tanks are THOSE? They are shaped really weird....ohhhhh...babies."

Okay,I thought I was looking at tanks. In my defense those babies are swaddled up pretty well.

In my defense I don't have any kids but the first thing I said to myself was "okay, I see the tanks first but where are the babies?"

I did eventually notice the babies...
And even more eventually I realized those weren't tanks...

The UV light is absorbed by the babies skin which changes the high levels of bilirubin in their blood to easier products for the body to filter out.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a UV lamp, we put our son's crib in front of a south facing window. Same effect from natural UV.

Yes, about 60% of babies are born with jaundice... which the condition was described by @buzzword. Our first daughter was born with jaundice and was treated under the blue light throughout her 2nd day. Most will recover without any treatment at all. However, if it's a bad case and is not treated, it can lead to permanent brain damage.

lol this thread shows who are healthcare professionals or others who have experience with this light.

When I first saw it in the hospital, my initial thought was... wonder if that would grow coral... lol! I think I have a problem.

Buajajaja... I definitely need an appointment with my phycologist, I see tanks every where... Buajajaja!!!

I was born two months premature and 4lbs so spent a lot of time in one of those. Maybe that's where my love of fish tanks comes from.

Babies....30 years practicing medicine. Maybe one day I'll get it right. :D

And it doesn't mean I'm not addicted to reef tanks (as I respond to this post between patients). ;Doctor
