I just a received a small frag of the Beach Bum monti and was wondering what the optimal placement is? Does it prefer high light? I am running a 400 watt Radium 20k and a pair of Reefbrite xho actinic led's. It's been sitting at the bottom of my 16" tall tank for almost 2 weeks now and I'm wondering if I should move it up? Thanks guys!

When I had it under radions it loved being blasted with light. In my 180 gallon I had it in the top half of the tank. Since I switched back to halides I found it grows best and has best colors just sitting on the sandbed.

Interesting observation. How tall is your tank and which halides do you use? Thanks dude.

24" tall 250w 20k radiums on galaxy select a watt ballasts (hqi setting)

Half way up, if you have a combo of MH/LED (:

Sang, let's see a pic of your frag and, for that matter, a pic of hybridazn's colony!!
I have mine on the ground and it has pretty vibrant color, but is still small.

Mine sadly has been chopped up to aboutique a 3/4" frag again. I've used it in trades to rebuild my tank haha.

Here is a pic before I chopped it. I got it from jason a couple weeks after he released it.

Which lights are you running? Any pics of yours? Mine is also small (1/2" or so) but it looks nice!

Here's a crappy iPhone pic of it. My halide and LED's wash out the pic:

I am running a Geissman fixture with the 250 metal halide, 4 T5s and 2 XHO reefbrites 1 foot above a 14" deep tank.

Mine is about an inch to an inch and a half and is pretty bright. I have it on the ground, But as you can tell by my lighting, it still gets pretty good light.

Kind of about middle of the road. Certainly not the slowest monti I've have ever seen.
