Hey all,

Recently I decided to break down my 5 year old 60g mixed reef. After 8 months, it's time to jump back in.

I decided on a 36in long x 22in wide x 20in deep rimless tank. The tank was built by a local glass fabricator, but unfortunately it was not custom. My LFS had it in their shop, and it had been built, but never picked up or paid for. After verifying that the tank was not being expected by someone, I made an offer.

Unfortunately, because I did not design the tank, I can't call it my 'Dream tank' but I decided to give it my best.

Equipment list:
Radion xr30 G3 (awaiting delivery)
Avast peg leg 180 cone skimmer
Avast swabbie
Avast MR 5
Avast MR 5 with bio pellet nozzle
Avast ATO pump
DIY led refugium light
MP40wQD
Speedwave DC-5000 (return pump)
Jebao DC-4000 (feed for manifold and fuge)

Plumbing:
The tank was built with the intention of running dual durso drains with a single return. I didn't like this, but I didn't want to do any drilling, so I decided to set it up as a herbie drain. Both drains are 1in and the return is 3/4in and is independent of the refugium and manifold to reduce variability in water level. The sump and refugium were built out of a 40g breeder.

Manifold and refugium:
A second pump, independent of the return, was used to feed the manifold and refugium. The manifold is currently going to feed the two media reactors, but I left third outlet open for future equipment. An LED was built for the refugium (I used it on my old tank and it grew macro like a beast).

Controller:
I also pre-ordered the Vertex Cerebra controller. I wanted to take advantage of the intro price, and I liked that I would not need a bunch of additional modules to monitor parameters and what not. With the cerebra, I also pre-ordered a Ph probe, conductivity probe, temperature probe, and an optical water level sensor for my ATO.

Dosing:
Finally, I contacted Melev's Reef for a custom ATO and dosing solution reservoir. The reservoir will hold approx 4.5g water, 1g calc, 1g alk, and 1g mag (or....).

Rock work:
60lbs Pukani dry rock

I'm still going to order a dosing system, a heater, and......who knows really.

Ok. Check out the pics. I'll be sure to update as soon as I make changes.

So I realized today that its been a really long time since I updated this. So, I wanted to catch it up and post a few pics.

I decided to run 2 radion xr30 G3. I also added a second MP40.

Marc at Melev's really came through with matching custom skimmate, ato, and dosing containers.

Cerebra is up and running nicely. Gives me some problems here and there but overall satisfied.

I also added some fish and corals (some old and some new)

Good to hear..... looks good.

Could you let us know what all you are monitoring and/or controlling with the Cerebra? What issues have you had?

I am running a Cerebra also and have had an update problem that has been resolved. Other than that it has done well. I currently control my heater and feedstop with the Cerebra, and use it to monitor current draw on the outlets, and my PH. I am in the proccess of wiring the LEDs and jebao pp15's into the 10v control.

@beachsider Tank looks great! How are you liking the Peg Leg Skimmer after running it for a while? Considering getting a kit myself. Would you recommend them?

Sorry for such the delay. Had to move and move the tank. All set back up.

Avast skimmer is a beast
