Those remind me of the Marineland LEDs which were terrible and could not keep corals very well.
You want at least 3W LEDs to grow almost all types of corals. Check out the ones on rapidled.com or reefbreeders.com

thanks a lot. I'm still trying to figure out the specs for lighting

You can't go wrong with 4-6 X T5s if you want a sure safe solution. LED is a bit trickier right now since some are not enough light and then the ones that are enough can be too bright.

Best start will be to list your tank size for a better recommendation and budget. You want the best lighting you can afford since nothing else will matter if that is not adequate.

Sorry for the late reply. My tank is a 37 gallon (30"L x 12"D x 22"H) and my budget is around 300.. Still need to pay my way through university

The value LEDs work very well. Reefbreeders carries them for 180.00 and is more than enough to light your tank. I am running one on my 30G and at only 30% it is bright enough to keep clams and SPS.

Wow awesome that's amazing. I'm definitely going to look into those

For the value led's, what do the degrees optics mean? For instance, what do they mean by 120 degree optics??

120 has more spread for wider tanks or if you don't want it too intense directly under the lights. The 90 and under optics focus the light more for deeper tanks or people who do not want light spilling out of the tanks. 90s on mine would probably bleach my corals unless I turned them way down or raised the lights.

Absolutely following this thread!

I'm about to fire off with a new build, on a really weird sized tank. I'm just not sure what I need to light it, planning on going with reef breeders led. Tank dimensions are 26Wx24Dx36T. No sps, primarily zoas and softies, a few lps. Nothing on the sandbed, my goofy coris wrasse would just kill it. So, suggestions? I want to go with the value fixture, but I'm just not sure of optics? Help?

36" tall? That is definitely a weird shape so essentially a tall cube tank. Optics will help with light penetration. 90 or 60 degrees will work for the corals you plan on keeping and will reach through to the sandbed if needed. The normal value lights work great unless you want the fancy controllable version.

Yes, 36" tall. It is a weird shape, but will work well for my wrasses. It's going to have a center spire with a couple of arches coming off of it and scaped so the wrasses can swim around it non-stop (since they are always on the move). Thanks for the suggestion on the lights!

For a deep tank, LEDs will definitely help push the light deeper. I would suggest probably 90* optics to focus the light. I believe you can select 90* optics for $20 more when you're ordering the ReefBreeders value fixture. You can probably call ReefBreeders and get their opinion.

i have to disagree with a lot of people on this. all my friends that are in the hobby like to laugh at me too. i have 1 48" beamswork reef led (the previous model from the one you suggested- about 500 lumens less i believe) on my 55 gal tank. i have had this fixture for almost a year now. i have LPS- hammer, bubble, duncans (my bubble is actually on the sand bed) thriving and growing. my duncan doesnt stop popping up new heads. i also have a green monti cap, as well as rics, mushrooms, kenyas, GSP, palys, zoanthids. ALL my corals are very happy. I will add though- some of my corals get fed pretty often. my duncan eats alot and so does the bubble. the hammer does not like to be bothered yet it is also growing a new head.
