I have a 50 gallon tank drilled with two 1” bulkheads draining into a modular marine Overflow. The over flow has three holes set up for a bean anamal. The holes are 1/2 inch. Was wondering if this will work or am I setting myself up for disaster?

I'm not sure I'm following...Is this right:

Your tank has two 1" holes in the glass for drains. You have an external bean animal overflow with 3x 1/2" drains. You want to know if the two 1" holes can support a bean animal setup in the overflow?

I want to know if the three 1/2 drains are enough for a bean anamal or will I have to figure out a way to go bigger?

A 1/2” pipe can gravity drain 420gph which is plenty of turnover for a 50g tank. If you really oversized the return pump and want more, you could always turn it into a Herbie and have two of the drain pipes full siphon and the third as your emergency.

Thanks a lot! I’m trying to get this system as quite as possible, so I’m going to try to get it set up with the bean anamal. But good to know that I have options.
