Hey guys,

I'm planning on building a Bean Animal Overflow and I understand the full siphon and the emergency standpipe but being that I have no experience with any of this I have a question about the Durso part of it.

I was hoping to have a vertical stand pipe and then have two 90 Degree Elbows on the top of it with a hole. Without testing - I'm not sure how important it is for the placement of the hole in the Durso.

I'm not sure if I:
1. Need to center the hole over the vertical portion of the standpipe.
2. Place the hole at the highest point
3. It doesn't matter - so long as there's a hole above the intake point.

I am thinking that I'd want the hole at the highest or to center it over the vertical standpipe and extend it with a little bit of R/O hose.

I could go with a slip tee + a cap + drill a hole to raise it up higher as I see in many of the pictures but it seems like so long as I have a hole and it's above the normal operating level of the system and below the emergency pipe height it should work?

The "hole" is only there to prevent the secondary channel from going full siphon. In most cases, you install a line and run the end of it at the height you want the secondary to go full siphon and flush the overflow box.

It could be left just like this...

but I chose to run a line to it.
