Hey all

So I just filled my new tank up with my old live rock and new sand. So it's pretty cloudy as you will see in my pictures.

Now my issue is the plumbing on the beananimal itself.

My pump seems to drain from my sump to fast so it running out of water. If I tighten my return ball valve I almost get no water flow back into the tank.

The pump is a 1262 Ehiem. I am running 3/4 back into the tank with 2 1" drains with the main one on a gatevalve.

I just can't seem to dial it in so there is enough water for the pump and running the tank. Any thoughts?

As you can see I am not getting that much water in the return part of the sump

Also I am getting a nice waterfall right here that makes a lot of noise.

Not enough water in the sump unless I am missing something.

should not have to throttle the eheim back at all. Looks there's a lot of chambers in you sump. Any chance you could take a pic of the whole thing

Just wondering what's all going on in there.

With 2 1" drains, you should have over 1800gph going through there, that pump couldn't possibly return that much water. Do you have the second drain turned off or something?
If you still have trouble, you need to branch off the return line, going back to the sump with pvc, and on the end of that return should be a gate valve or ball valve, this would allow you to fine tune the return gph back to the dt, without draining the sump.

Whether you need it or not, put a valve on the eheim. Once you get it set and water is flowing nicely, see where your water level is at. May be to low.

Thanks for all the input all. I have opened up the return valves on my return pipes and added more water. That seem to have fixed it. I was not taking into thought about the water in the pipes. So as the overflow would empty I added more water. The sump runs much smoother now and not as loud. I can also open up the 1262 much more.
