Hi all !
I saw this beautiful fish that i’ve never seen at any of the aquarium stores I frequent before and it caught my eye !
I was wondering: is it more of an advanced fish ? i’m about 7 months in to marine aquarium keeping and have done tons of research, but mostly on a lot of the basics.
I see articles that say its reef safe, its reef-safe with caution, and that it’s not reef safe at all ? I plan on having some corals and already have a bubble tip anemone.
I’ve also seen that it can eat other fish.
I have two jumbo Ocellaris clowns, a diamond Watchmen Goby, and a Bicolor Blenny. Are these too small to have in the same tank as the Grouper ?
any advice would be super helpful !!

My lfs gets them in fairly often. The problem with them is that they get really big. So unless you have a tank that can house a fish that is a few feet long then you should probably pass.
OH did not know they got huge like that, wow. definitely gonna pass on him then !

yeah you’d only need a couple hundred more gallons and other aggressive fish that are similar size lolol
love those but i’ll never have one

yea i’m realizing this was a dumb question haha. they’re just so pretty, but there’s lots of pretty fish that’ll be better for my tank :3

That fish caught my eye in 1976 but I wouldn't place that in a tank with shrimp and fish small enough to fit in it's mouth plus they get rather large. Fade as they mature as well.

When they get bigger they’re not even pretty any more. From pictures I’ve seen they become more tan with black spots instead of the white and black that you see them have when young.

It wasn’t a dumb question. It’s good that you asked before buying a fish without knowing if you could properly keep it. Too many people in the hobby buy something then look to see if they should have bought it.

I saw some pictures of them grown up, they’re still cool in my eyes but definitely different from juvenile !
and thank you, I definitely don’t want to get a living creature without knowing how to properly care for it first !
