So I am about 4 to 6 weeks out from adding fish to the 24 gallon office tank and I like to plan out and order my fish all at once to help avoid territory fights. There are quite a few more fish available now verses when I stocked my 125 gallon tank (that I had to leave back in NC when I moved) many years ago. Being a focal point near my desk I am wanting color and beauty but being the type that try's to keep the fish I keep be a function part of the tanks eco system ( sand turning, algae grazing ect) I have plenty of experience with keeping various fish from tangs to marine bettas. I don't want to stock a lot of fish, maybe 4 to 6 fish (more fish more potential feeding means more nutrients in the water to deal with)Not into clowns in such a small tank. Some one suggested a six line wrasse as they help the tank should a nudie hitch hike in on a coral but some one else says they need pods. I am not sure a small tank would support a goby and shrimp pair but if I could it would be cool (any one having success in a small tank with a pair give a holler on type) A pigmy angel I think would be good if it gets along with every one.
So any suggestion and input?

I think that tank is too small for a pygmy angel. You might like twin spot gobies. They stay on the sand bed and sift thru it but they are interesting fish. Ive always liked firefish there colorful and can live in a small tank

I think you’ll be limited on fish selection. Not trying to be the fish police but I think a Pygmy should have 50G+, a six line wrasse might work (small one) for now but as it grows that might get a little tight and it could get aggressive towards tank mates. I think you could do like a firefish or two, maybe a couple Chromis, fish of that size. There are quite a few gobies that would work also. If you look on live Aquaria you could get a better idea.

you are not confusing dwarf (coral beauty, flame or bicolor) angels with pigmy angel that gets no bigger then 6 to 8 cm are you? Even then they recommend 50 gallons for pigmy

No a Pygmy still should have 50G+

I believe there all the Centropyge type angel, they need 50 gallons minimum, most people recommend 70+

I love angels but they do need space, Flames are my favorite.

+1 on that. Flame angels were one of the fish that got me into the hobby, along with the mandarin goby. Neither of which I have a big enough tank for anymore.

Madeirans/dragonettes are awesome I had two in my 125, had to do every thing I could to keep pods going for them but the work was totally worth it as well as the Marine Betta.
