Ever feed yours live blackworms?

No black worms, but I did feed tubifex and brine shrimp. The freeze dried. Actually, one time the fish were picking at an area in my rocks. I think live tubifex had hitch hiked with my plants. Their were clumps of the worms in my gravel. I would actually put my hand in the water, pull some worms out of the gravel with my finger, and the my discus would eat right off my finger, until the worms ran. I didn't know tubifex were hitchhikers, but I saw a photo of live tubifex in the Baench Freshwater Atlas. That's what it was.

my wilds were on a diet of mostly freeze dried blackworms, and they loved them. my sw fish gets them now and even my bangaii cardinal loves them. live blackworms are just too much trouble for me.

Those tubifex I had, which reddish live, had hitchhiked on my live plants. I think my wisteria plants roots, I am sure they blended in well and I didn't notice, and they multiplied into clumps in the gravel. My fish actually got more reddish hues from eating them if I remember.
They even loved freeze dried tubifex. Fish love worms.lol

I've always liked Fundulopanchax killifish myself. Unfortunately the best tank setups for breeding them are not terribly nice looking.

Killifish are pretty but they are not long lived.

The MBU Freshwater Puffer is pretty cool IMHO. Quickly outgrows most tanks though.

They are cool. They require a little salt in their water too I believe. I never got one because they bite holes in plants.

All I can say is that discus nowadays are just about capture raised and easier to maintain like I said before. I look around to where you find some good info.

I used to frequent the site very often about 5 years ago when I was trying to get a discus tank up and running. The community there was very comparable to the community here on R2R.
