Well I know a lot of people don't run beckett skimmers anymore but I still wanted to start this thread! I haven't done it yet personally but I have read that people take their becketts and fill the four larger holes in with epoxy then drill anywhere from 20-30 smaller holes from either 1/16 or 3/32" size.

What I am wondering is if anyone here has done that? IF so did you notice an improvement? Presently I have a spare beckett for when I clean the one beckett I just swap them out. If this seems to be a big help in performance I am willing to mod the spare beckett I have.

I think the main reason is power consumption on the beckett skimmers

they do skim really well

That was the other thing that was brought up as well. They were thinking and not sure if it ever came to anything but with the more smaller holes they thought they would be able to run a smaller pump than normal. To me the pump cost per month is no biggie hence why I went to a beckett.

Also not to get this thread of topic but now the Needlewheel skimmers are running 2-3 pumps for recirc and so forth. Wouldn't that take just as much energy as one pump to run a beckett? Just something I always pondered!

I did the mod on my beckett injectors. I must say it made a huge improvement in not only the preformance but also in the bubble size. I driled about 20-25 3/32 holes as they seemed to be a good size others claim to get about 40 with the 1/16th. I also run my beckett with a mag 12 and it skims like crazy. I get super fine bubbles like neddle wheel skimmers with the valve half open on my air intake. I also heard you can add more air intakes to the injector chamber to increase production but I have not yet done this.

I use to run a beckett skimmer. Aerofoamer 840. It did a great job on skimming. I changed it out for a BK since the power consumption was much lower. They are great skimmers just the pumps to run them are not cost effective.
