Hello Everyone,

Been in the hobby for about 5 years. Almost like everyone, I started with a 29 gallon freshwater tank and quickly grew bored with the fish. I wanted more color, my friend just got into the hobby, so I figured I would switch over to saltwater.

From the 29 gallon, it went to a 65 gallon (which I did not get permission from the wife/boss) and filled that tank out with SPS, LPS and zoas. My wife must have been in a good mood or liked how the tank looked and gave me the green light for my current 120.

I was pretty excited about the switch until a month or so after the move. My coral were not happy, my SPS began browning out and dying. I found that I had extremely high phosphates and could not find the source.

Like most rational human beings, I decided to kill my whole system and start fresh. I could no longer look at unhappy coral, aptasia and bubble algae that was introduced throughout the first few years of being in the hobby.

I killed the rock by dipping it into acid, bought a new sump, re-plumbed and changed my lighting from an ATI t5 only fixture to the new hybrid system.

The tank has been running since November, so my tank is currently in the grow out phase with SPS and other corals.
