Just registered today, I've been wanting a saltwater tank for a long time but being active duty military didn't allow me to. I found what I hope it a steal of a deal. I'll have to replace the front glass but watching a few YT videos now I feel confident. For the price I'm willing to try. Picked up an Aqueon 210 gallon today. Once I can build a stand for it it'll get a home. For now I'm just going to stare at it until I can work on it. I'll start buying equipment as I can. It's a "budget" tank.

I look forward to gaining knowledge and experiencing a reef tank!

Cool deal! The 210 is a great size. Have you decided what brand of silicone you'll be using? If I was going to redo the front panel of a tank, I would probably go back with black silicone. What other equipment are you thinking about going with?

I'll go with black again. Honestly I'm so new right now still researching when I have time. I'm retired military, full time student, house searching and have a 5, 2 yr old and five month old. My LFS has been in business for 46 yrs and I'm going to support them the best I can. I'll save money when I feel it's necessary and buy from them when I can. He said he recently wrote an article that going to be in the magazine Coral about how to keep the tank cleaner but basically requires a bare bottom. So not sure exactly what I'll do in that regard as I like the look of sand.

Well sounds like your hands are full. You might want to watch the new series that Bulk Reef Supply is putting out on youtube about ultra low maintenance setups. Starts here:

Awesome link, thanks for sharing! I started watching their 52 week series but haven't finished. It's a lot of info and not able to retain. Lol.

First, thank you for your service and secondly, welcome to R2R and your new reefing family. Take a look at the thread below as well for some great information.

Good read, so many good reads in this forum. Part of me wants to buy the expensive Apex controller to simplify keeping parameters and the other part wants to buy go fast goodies for my project truck and deal with constant monitoring until I can buy the controller. Decisions decisions... Lol

Welcome to the forum. I'm new here as well, and this forum is filled with great people, and excellent information. Best of luck with rebuilding the tank!
