One of my favorite things about this hobby is winding down in the evening by sitting in front of my tank, pouring a glass of beer, and perusing the internet for fish, corals, and equipment I really don’t need. Not that I’ve ever done this, but have any of you ever had maybe one too many and purchased something (or things) you had no business buying or regretted the next morning? Perhaps a Vlamingii tang for a nano tank, an order of corals longer than your arm, etc... Thought it might be fun to read about some regretful late night purchases. :)

Believe it or not, This isn't the first thread on this topic. Whether you've made an alcohol induced purchase or not, rest assured that others have. ;) I've never done that, but I must admit to a few reefing faux pas that may or may not have been alcohol related.

Stress free activity !

No regrets, but after running a FOWLR tank for a year and a half and what we will call a drink or two ( maybe a few more. LOL) I ordered better lighting to start adding coral. Again, still no regrets, but would not have done it at the time without a drink or two ( and maybe a few more. LOL)
Glad I did though.

Don't care to much for alcohol (though I have a beer occasionally), but my other medication really enhances my enjoyment of the aquarium and fishkeeping tasks.... Without influencing me too much to buy unnecessary livestock or equipment.

This one time along timeago some guy convinced me to take his tesalata morray eel while we were on averys albinos because he was supposed to move into his college dorm and his mom didnt wanna take care of it because it ate live things and she waslike a organic no shave november vegan hippie chick so she thought it wascruelty having such a creature let alone feeding it live fish,so me being nick i brought the eel home in good concience after laughing at my friends hairy mom watching and actively making fun of jaques coustaeu on drugs and my friends and his alien snake in a glass cube i finally stumbled home to my parents talking to this eel in a bait cooler like it had all the secrets to the universe...them looking at me like im some kinda robot... at this point in the night it was clear that i shouldnt have brought this eel home at the time i was like 19 and it was 2005 so the internet wasnt advanved like we know it now it was still in its infancy no google no ask.com even no yahoo no bing there was aol lol...or grapevine... and to wait for your page to load you coulda watched a lord of the rings movie no joke thats how long dial up intetnet used to take so there was no info on this the thing or how to take care of it i ended up keeping it i got by feeding it guppies and mollies i bred in freshwater he lived a long life until 2010 until it escaped one night and got sucked into over flow and diembolwed by rotary action ruining how he swam eventually causing him to not eat and his demise some time later... i had a deep connection with that eel... i havent had it in me to want to get one again eels are beautifup creatures dont do a young me and get an animal in the blink of an eye because your friend wanted you to... take the time do the research sure it lived for 5 years but it probably wasnt happy 19 year old me kept him in a 40 gallon breeder a 2 ft eel thats not right me now knowing what i know now knew why his hairy mom was mad and she was right it wasnt right to keep an eel his tank was smaller than mine he had a 32 gal arched and i wouldve never took the animal if i knew more about it because i didnt have a 50 gal plus, i gave a poor creature a mediocre life in a cube eating guppies when it shoulda had a dedicated setup not just thrown in with a blue tang and a starry blenny i pulled a total nick bingo move...
