Before and After....

I really like your tank. Don't know where you're coming from, but clearly you have an agenda. I would say this - without knowing the par values pre and post - and whether your radions were at their highest possible level and the other settings - its impossible to say what made the difference. In any case part of the difference was 'time'...

Sounds like you know a lot more about keeping corals than I do, would love to see a pic of your tank. [emoji1303]

I love when coral masters come tell me what I’m doing wrong.

Check the signature on each of my posts. Never said I knew more about keeping corals than you do, and never said you were doing anything wrong. Never claimed I was a coral master. I only said that time played a role. No more no less.

Either way, I always enjoy seeing other people’s tanks. Would love to see a pic

All you have to do is click the link on any of my posts to see a picture of the tank.

Fyi - If you look at the video from August 2017 the brown small Frag seen in the start is now the branching coral just to the left in the picture above. The pic you posted is 1/3 of the tank - there is a full view below it in the build thread. In any case - the small brown frag from Aug 2017 which was about 2 inches is now about 7 inches with multiple new growth areas. The others have doubled in size as well. in 6 months time.

Now now boys hahaha I would have left the "agenda" part out of it... maybe he just doesn't like leds and prefers T5s. Nothing wrong with that.

It was the 'LED Fan Boy' comment he made that led to that....:). In either case he did have an agenda - nothing wrong with that. I actually don't understand why people use so little light in their tanks - which is why I questioned the original par, etc. If you run radions at 30%, for example, and your corals aren't doing 'well', does it make sense to add a T5 - or increase the radions up to 100%. (Note - not saying that this has anything to do with the OP's tank since I have no clue what his settings were.). was meant as a general comment.

Not trying to get in the middle, but you didn't read the thread then He answered that question on post #16

"
I only ran the AB+ lighting schedule on my Radions, and I ran the intensity at 100%. I tried my hardest to grow SPS with LEDs, and no matter what I tried, I was unsuccessful. I never said LEDs can’t grow coral, my SPS didn’t die under Radions, they were just growing very slow. After I switched to T5s, I had some acros grow more in 6 weeks than they had grown in 6 months under LEDs. My alk consumption went through the roof. I had to test alk daily, because after a week it dropped big time. "

I saw it. On the current radion settings that I can look at/upload there is no AB+ lighting schedule. He also doesn't say how long he ran it at 100% or the documented PAR values (I assume he has a PAR meter). Not everything posted has to be an 'either or'. In case any one has read the whole thread - all I said was that 'time' was a factor, in addition to the light change. I don't have any investment in the maker of Radion lights lol.

But. Taking it a step further - if you take the original post at 'face value', to me the impression that is being given is that Radions don't allow (or allow only suboptimal) coral growth. My point is that that case isn't made here. I do think in general that people seem to run these lights at low levels. And even a lot of those people have quickly growing corals. I would be interested to hear 'why' the OP thinks the light made such a difference. Was it the 'spread', the PAR, the spectrum, etc.

Still think the tank looks great. Kudos to OP

AB+ settings. http://ecotechmarine.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/ReefWholesale_CoralLab.pdf

And looking at his tank I'm sure he had the Radions properly adjusted for the correct amount of time. In my case adding 4 T5's to my LED fixtures made a huge difference in color and growth YMMV obviously.

Ok. what does YMMV mean? and I'll ask you the same question - what magic do you think made the difference? Spectrum, intensity, spread or something else? And I wonder if there is a difference between G3's and G4's (I currently use G4's).

Here is another 'thought'. At a given amount of light, there is an optimal flow, alkalinity and nutrient level. Meaning, that if you have your lights at a level at which the corals require a different flow or nutrient level or alkalinity, their growth will not be optimal. Since multiple people have success using LED's and other lighting systems, there has to be another 'variable'. Glad, though, that changing yoru lights made a difference.

@SchnitzelReef -- we all like your tank, but you definitely seem to have an agenda about being anti LED. That's cool that you like T5, but whenever you get the opportunity you throw in some junk about LED's being junky

"Oh look how great my tank is! Wasn't like that with LED's"

People with bigger, more mature tanks than you run full LED and saw in increase in growth and color. What works for one, doesn't work for everyone.. So why are you dogging LED's?

Additionally, you seem to forget that at one point in time, T5's were NOT a viable option, they were a joke that could "Never support SPS". All the things you've said about LED's were EXACTLY what people said about T5's. Then the reflectors improved dramatically, and the game changed.

It’s ok, all LED fan boys hate my tank. [emoji1303]

Why be antagonistic? what does that help? Are you seriously telling me a grown adult male is getting huffy over some other guy having a different opinion?

I’m confused, do you think I care what your opinion is? Do me a favor, you don’t like my comments, stay off my threads. Problem solved. Have a good one man.

Liked + No. You clearly care very much what people think, or you wouldn't be crying on a public forum about "The mean LED peoples". What is wrong? Why are you so upset?

Like I said man, stay off my threads and u won’t have to be hassled by my comments.

If anyone is crying, it sounds like you buddy. I had a bad experience with Radions, and I tell people about it. Then I have the LED fan boys like you come on my thread and try to tell me what I’m doing wrong. Do me a favor, post a pic of your bad butt SPS tank, or shut up!!! I don’t care what your opinion is, and I highly doubt anyone else does.

Here’s a tissue, wipe your tears.
